Update; pausing for INTELLIGENT REdS ..evolution!

interim #REdNET Supporters CLUB log and  UPdate REdNET bootroom/

continuing a collective report on the current ssequence of important  games. they are  ALL BIG...

I want the REdS to a) come through the away game in Europe without loss or inuries and b) save enough for sundays premiere league game at Cardiff.

 porto v LIVERPOOL

The last time i was in porto, I was supporting another of Rafa's REdS european campaign when LIVERPOOL were considered (at least by the questionable "UEFA rankings") as the top club in Europe ... .feared at home and abroad, I had wonderful times with Stevie & Torres, Masch , Xabi & Sissoko, in the "best nidfield in the World" Agger & Carra ..and Pepe ..the most under valued goalie/sweeper/passer in recent history.. his contribution to team play and the club, on & off the field was not really appreciated by mant Lfc fans..

Happy BIRTHDAY Rafa..

its co-incidental that Rafa has his birthday the next day after the fateful april 15th , his wife as well as Benitez supports many community & charity initiatives in LIVERPOOL as his family still live there..

mainScream (sp life) Media Complacency concern for Reds

It is the forgotten tie of the round. Liverpool's current form is so good (11 wins and five draws) that their trip to the Estadio do Dragao, where they won 5-0 last year, is seen as a formality. But complacency is the one thing to be take care of  , as porto showed enough potential threat at Anfield to suggest this will be far from comfortable. Pepe and Hector Herrera return from suspension to strengthen the hosts and if Moussa Marega discovers the shooting boots he left at home last week it could be an uncomfortable night. JK will make minimal changes, most likely at centre-back and in midfield, as he believes in maintaining a consistent rhythm and will not be looking ahead to Sunday's trip to Cardiff.

 Opta stats

  • FC porto have lost the first leg of a Champions League/European Cup knockout tie by 2+ goals on six previous occasions, and on all six of those occasions they have been eliminated from the competition.
  • Liverpool have never lost a European match against FC porto in seven previous encounters (W4 D3 L0), keeping three successive clean sheets against them.
  • porto suffered their heaviest ever home defeat in European competition against Liverpool in last season’s Champions League, with the Reds winning 5-0 in a last 16 tie.
  • Since the start of last season, Liverpool have won three of their four away Champions League knockout games, only losing to Roma in last season’s semi-final (4-2).
  • FC Porto are the only remaining side in the Champions League to have won 100% of their home games in the competition this season (4/4). Indeed, porto last won five or more straight home games in the competition between October 1998 and December 1999 (run of six).
  • Liverpool have progressed from all nine of their previous two-legged European ties under manager Jurgen Klopp (four in the 2015-16 Europa League, one 2017-18 Champions League play-off and four Champions League knockout stage ties since the start of last season).
  • Sadio Mané scored a hat-trick for Liverpool against porto at Estádio do Dragão in last season’s Champions League; only Luiz Adriano v Bate Borisov and Cristiano Ronaldo against Atlético de Madrid have ever scored more than one hat-trick against an opponent in the Champions League, while no player has ever scored two away from home against one club.
  • Since the start of the 2017-18 tournament, Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino has both scored and assisted in five different Champions League matches, more than any other player in this time.

LIVERPOOL 2 chelski 0

It is difficult to detail this game ..the rent blues looked intent on causing the REdS trouble , and it could have gone either way until Hendo picked out Mane at the far post for the first and Mo's unusually shot from distance into the top corner got me screaming at the top of my lungs...

Naby was driving through with Mane , Firm & Mo seeing a lot of the ball and it might have been 3 before the "belgian diver" hit the post and missed , probably an easier chance..

I liked Gini's calm after coming on, i thinkhis role is pivotal this season, and under-estimated by many Lfc fans , he rarely loses the ball, and makes a smooth transition from defence to attack..

i think i must have transferred the positive Karma of the 96 + 30 years today...

big party last night, ,, i think, back on top and let us stay there and keep the pressure on manciteh FRAUD klub..
;)

it was almost as good as beating the mancs.. hate that dirty nasty London club and their dirty, nasty "loadsamoney| racist fans //

LIVERPOOL 2 v port 0

  (inside Anfield)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gm3qR1UP5U

I was impressed with the way port0 came at the game early on but even more imPRESSED how the REdS reacted and out-fought and out gunned the visitors in the first half ..

MADE UP for NK, getting his first goal at Anfield and in Europe for LIVERPOOL ....  Milly was fantastic again switching to Left wing back.. up & down which enabled me to "forget" that the outstanding Robbo was not playing..

VVD commanded at the back , Dejan recovered & covered well , if occasionally caught out of position,  Trent , Hendo & Mo were raiding down the right and  Firm set up Naby to open up the game with a goal on 5 minutes ... Hendo slotting a great ball through for Trent to slip into "the Firm" for 2-0 ..

Naby continued to press forward and link up almost feeding Mane with a through pass , and mopped up with Fab in midfield ..

.. there were some wonderful moves that deserved better finish, in both halves and i felt Mane's goal should have been given ..much made by media about a challenge by Mo but it wasn't noticeable in the game..

AB was a little bit off his game , but saved well when it really mattered (the port0 side were much better than last seasons tie) and with VVD in top form, no one noticed.. 2-0 is a good result , 3-0,obviously, would have been better, but hopefully LIVERPOOL can get a goal away and ease into the semis next week..

Liverpool v Porto (2000 BST – BT Sport 3)

For all the talk of manciteh FRAUD klub quadruple hunt, the Reds could still possibly win a tremendous double if they can go one better in this than last year and somehow manage to pip City to the league.
JK has the Team  fully focused on the matter in hand though, and if anything they can almost approach this competition with a bit more freedom given they undoubtedly want to win the Premier League. porto won’t be the walkover many expect, they’ll certainly want to do better than last season and they’re a stronger side this time around under Sergio Conceicao.
They’re a big, powerful unit who’ll pose problems from Alex Telles’ delivery from set plays as long as he’s fit, so there are warning for Liverpool to not take this one for granted. It should be another winning European night at Anfield though, although maybe not as emphatic as many may think.
"
a strange phenomenon that Liverpool are about to record their highest ever points tally when their best player, Mo Salah, has been at a significantly lower level than last season. Going into this weekend it felt as though all the REdS needed to finish above manciteh FRAUD klub was for Mo to finally come alive, to go on a six-match goalscoring run that mimics his 2017/18 form.
Southampton might just be the start of that run. His goal was special in any context, but given the tension in the air on Friday evening it was an extraordinary run and finish. maybe..He has Jordan Henderson to thank, the captain raising the tempo with vertical passes and energetic runs for the final half hour, and aside from his headed pass to Salah it was perhaps Hendo’s introduction that inspired Mo to raise his own game.

If this really is the beginning of MO returning to form, then Liverpool should be installed as favourites to win the title."
ChRiS> not sure if Jk will shuffle the defence , if Joe is fit it might be the best game to smooth his return (hopefully)
so with Robbo suspended ..  and a chance to play Shaq> I would propose Milly at left wing back ..  Hendo ..looked sharp at the end of the soton game.. and so... this (not a prediction)

if all fit..

soton 1  LIVERPOOL 3  (Nk, Mo! & Hendo)

this was a fecking BIG win, scrappy and loose first half allowed soton to take a lead, dominated possession but the home side packed their pen area with 10 busses and broke quickly on the counter..

NK got his first ever goal, and the 2nd nearly game before half time and the REF ignored Naby being tackled in the area after he had pushed the ball past a defender..! … nervous times ..

BUT , deep down , had a feeling we would get another..and Mo broke away and dinked a beautiful shot into the corner for 1-2 and booked for celebrating ..shirt-less

… but he don't care, because we loved it.. 50 goals up and maybe the pundits will shut up now..

LIVERPOOL take on another london club on sunday..

the Reds, beaten only once in 31 Premier League fixtures and are into the Champions League quarter-finals,

Liverpool 76 points

manciteh FRAUD klub 74 points

Juergen

... a season is like that, you constantly prepare a basis for the final weeks. We are now in the final weeks and there will be no interruption anymore, there will only be game after game after game and they all are very, very important.

On the one side, opponents fight for the Champions League spots, and on the other they will fight [to stay in] the league.

I think only Wolves in the last match, they are not fighting for Champions League and not fighting for staying in the league, but we all see what shape they are in – and they can go to the FA Cup final, so that’s exciting for them. But these are our opponents.

Champions League, we don’t have to talk about that because they are all finals, each game is a final. Hopefully we can stay in that competition for a while.

We created a wonderful base, now let’s use it.”

...it seems likely that JK will have a full complement of fit players available from Thursday to further fine-tune the strategy to face a Spurs side the Reds defeated 2-1 at Wembley earlier in the season.

JK> : ' Joe is not injured anymore and nearly fit.

He will not be in the afternoon training session because he has to do something else – he has to work on his endurance, that’s how it is and how the boys always have to do it, like Ox had to do it when he was finally back in training.

After a long time, I think Joe was out for 15 weeks, that is long, so he needs to now create the basis again for the rest of the season.”

OX , meanwhile, will continue to train on a specialist programme after picking up a muscle issue during his 40-minute appearance for Liverpool’s U23s at Derby County on March 8.

However, JK anticipates the midfielder will re-join his teammates in full training next week.

I spoke to him a second ago; Ox is positive, we are all positive,” he said. “It was a little setback, it was not more, but it was a setback. That’s how it is.

You don’t want to be overly sensitive after a period like this because they train a lot – training is always like this, it’s like stress for the body. You feel something, but you don’t want to mention everything because it [can be] DOMS [delayed onset muscle soreness].

It was the case with him, it was a little bit more than DOMS, but not really [serious]. We are careful of course, he is working, he is doing a lot and I think will be in training in a week again. Then he will be fine.”

Elsewhere, Mo Salah was among the players who trained at Melwood on Tuesday having been left out of Egypt’s squad for their fixtures with Niger and Nigeria.

He always played pretty much all games, everywhere for country, for us and all that stuff, so it was really important [he could have a break],” said Klopp.

Now he will be here, a full week to prepare for the rest of the season, so that’s cool. I spoke to him, he looked really relaxed and in a good mood. Now, let’s go.”

ChRiS> I doubt if JK will use Joe or Ox until they have been eased in .
. so if all others are fit MY starting 11 proposal is
(as Matip has been in decent form..
alongside VVD)

                                                 AB
                             Matip              VVD

    Trent                             Fab                   Robbo

                                   Gini          Milly/or NK

                                         "the Firm"

                            Mo
opta stats
Liverpool have lost just one of their last 24 home Premier League games against spurs (W15 D8 L1), a 0-2 defeat in May 2011 under Kenny Dalglish.spurs have won just one of their last 12 Premier League games against Liverpool (W1 D4 L7), winning 4-1 at Wembley in October 2017.
Only Man City (19) have won more points than Liverpool (13) in Premier League meetings between the ‘big six’ this season, while only Man Utd (6) have won fewer points than tottenham in such matches (7).
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 36 home Premier League matches. If they avoid defeat here, it will be the joint-second longest unbeaten home run in the competition’s history (Chelsea 86 2004-2008, man citeh FRAUD klub 37 2010-2012).
Liverpool have conceded six goals in their five Premier League home games in 2019, as many as they had in their previous 17 at Anfield.spurs are winless in their last four Premier League games (D1 L3). They last went five without a win in the same campaign back in February-March 2012 under Harry Redknapp.tottenham’s  kane has been involved in four goals in four Premier League appearances against Liverpool at Anfield (3 goals, 1 assist).
spurs boss  pochettino has never won against the team coached by Jurgen at Anfield in four meetings in all competitions (W0 D2 L2). His only victory away against Liverpool was as Southampton manager in September 2013 when the Reds were managed by Rodgers.
No player has scored more Premier League goals in 2019 than Liverpool’s Sadio Mane (9, level with sergio aguero), with the Senegalese star’s nine goals coming in his last nine games.
After a run that saw him score 11 goals in 12 games in all competitions between December and February, son has failed to score in his last five appearances for spurs.

sadly there are a lot of fools who tag on to Lfc .. who fail to understand our culture, (even some old ones , even some scousers, who forget, and sit in the stands and moan instead of supporting.. ) ... its a disease of modern society.. and mis-guided media , on sunday Mo worked his socks off, once, when fulham countered, he tracked back and when their move finished he was level with VVD in defence... he had to recover form a bad injury, and defences are putting 2, 3 or more defenders up against him, BUT that creates space for other players... keep reminding the fan nies Peter J Caunce and knowledgeable supporters know what u mean! Mo just needs a tad bit of luck.,.. but Mane is profiting from space created ...so its good for the team, whoever scores, top of the league and progressing in europe..no need to moan about every little thing..

  4. Jürgen Klopp has spoken throughout the season of the plan to create a base for the run-in – and now, he says, is the time for Liverpool to use it.

As excitement has steadily grown about the possibilities of this campaign, with the Reds beaten only once in 31 Premier League fixtures and into the Champions League quarter-finals, the manager reiterated his focus on laying foundations rather than looking to the future.
That building process is now behind them, however, and the new target is clearly stated: Klopp’s side want to capitalise fully on the ‘wonderful’ position they have put themselves in.
