This must be the 1000th article I have written since 1995 about ...LIVERPOOL related subjects, via REdNET and other logs, blogs & SCLOGs..
I am 23 years old..... and lucky...
but thats only if you accept, (and why should you?), that I was "re-born" after a coma 23 years ago..
I had invested 7 years of my life and resources into the "gemNet" venture ; to connect 300 + business partners in 45 countries with over 500 online services via our own multi-media laptop tech using the former soviet satellite system to connect half a billion users ..

So the current (season 17/18) Liverpool team gets to the final of the worlds most important club competition... and shouldnt we all be happy and excited... and YES IAM looking forward to the final against favourites RMad-rid, not only because this team , at its best can beat anyone, and YET...
11 years after Athens and all the complaints made about ticket allocation, travel etc and all the "history" of our struggles against a biased UEFA, one of the top 10 richest football clubs in the world (whose boardroom is backed by a bunch of dollar billionaires) cannot guarantee that the supporters who did so much to MAKE this club a global ICON, with support, banners & songs (and much more) cannot be sure of getting there,
Allocated a meagre 16,ooo tickets, which does nothing to match a packed stadium of 50,000 plus every home game, the official Lfc travel agents (thomas CROOK) can only guarantee 600 places for a round trip , which will cost each ticket holder around a thousand euros (or more)...
Its as if the boardroom directors think fans income matches the transfer fees paid these days???
Loyal supporters deserve better

Needs a SOLUTION for the future.
As I write this with only a week to go, having offered ideas for supporters to find alternative travel routes, via other european airports to Kiev, or via Lviv, or if time permits train/bus connections.. via Poland and other eastern european links.. I ask the TRUE REd SUPPORTERS... havent you had enough of this..

ReplyDeletefair comment., and yet... its also fair to say that releasing Phil C , Studge and Grujic , plus injuries , which tend to happen during latter stage of the season, left only 11 "regular first teamers" to carry Lfc through to the final and see out the league fixtures... if the boardroom had a different - football related" club policy Lfc may have pushed citeh closer, but some wont care if Lfc are 2nd or 4th.. as long as the european money comes in again for "qualification" ...

good stuff Ian, I may have even more miles, now kms, than you.. i expected to be over it, after so many "campaigns" but here i am , friday, and despite major events in my life, not least my birthday just gone (yeah i always had great birthday parties back then when we were lifting one or other trophy or more each season) and europe, was def. my thing... my first final of any sorts was 74, and Bills last, weird, and Emlyn...raw energy in a Red shirt...

(ah and yes "86 healed me , some... 12 of us, 8 Reds and 4 blues went to wembley together, and a dreama on the underground, made it another memory to tell..) fast forward... 2001 i lost my voice after Dortmund.. then Rafa Reds away days winning @ barca, RM, Milano, Marseille etc... the buzz was back.. then ... enough ... when Rafa was pushed out and Torres, ... and ... and.. all my cynical worries confirmed by the "shark infested boardroom" still... i am buzzing all week and more since before the semis... since Porto away,.. can they win ?
