REdNET with ChRiS (bootroom) special... pre Bayern & :lesser mancs away day

ChRiS> this REdNET is because i have too much time whilst the lads are having another mini pause in Marbella...

The first thought that came to mind was that Bayern & Man U (now considered "the lesser club" from that city)  gave me a reason NOT to watch a champions league final 2 decades ago..  when they were pitted against each other I simply didnt want to watch .. because i wanted BOTH to lose..

it was around the time I was based in "germoney" and both represented the worst.. of the 2 leagues they represented..

I  recall Good times too..

when Young Alun scored a hat trick at Anfield v Bayern when i was a kid and Evans Rivalled Emlyn as my youthful Hero in REd...

then if you are of my generation the semis in 1981 when Howard Gayle played a blinder , in an injury affected LIVERPOOL team,  despite being kicked all over the park, Sammy Lee shutting out the arrogant Breitner,

the bayern fans being given the details of the final in Paris being deflated by Ray Kennedy scoring the away goal to put us through.. !! (i went to Paris, the germans didnt!) see ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFmbkmJjIC4

LIVERPOOL v bayern

(SpLife media- edited)
" It probably wasn't the fixture that Liverpool wanted at this stage in the competition, but they are still well equipped to start their knockout stage campaign in winning ways.
Anfield has been crucial to the Reds' European fortunes so far., who won their three home games, but three defeats on the road meant that they had to settle for second place in Group C.
On the contrary, bayern managed to make it through the group stage unbeaten. The only side they had any issues against were Ajax with two draws in their games against each other. It was enough to send Munich through in first though.
bayern's away record has been a positive this season. They have won the large majority of their games in all competitions, although they seem to come unstuck when playing against the top sides away from the Allianz Arena.
They were beaten by Dortmund (first in the Bundesliga) and Leverkusen (fifth in the Bundesliga) in the games there, while they are yet to visit Monchengladbach and Leipzig.
That should put them in a difficult position here, although an away goal could be crucial .. Liverpool will want to be on the front foot in front of their own supporters,  With the influential trio of Bobby Firmino, Sadio and Mo  Salah up front for Liverpool,

it's set to be a busy evening for Hummels, who has been a presence in the bayern back line throughout their group stage campaign.
Opta facts
  • bayern  have won only one of their seven matches in European competition against Liverpool (D4 L2), that came in the Cup Winners Cup second round back in November 1971 with two goals from Gerd Müller and one from Uli Hoeness in Munich.
  • Liverpool and bayern’s only previous encounter in the European Cup/Champions League came in the 1980/81 semis. Liverpool progressed on away goals (1-1 on aggregate) – they would go on to beat Real Madrid in the final (1-0).
  • bayern  haven’t scored a single goal against Liverpool at Anfield (3 games).
  • Liverpool are unbeaten in 19 consecutive European matches at Anfield (W14 D5), last losing at home back in October 2014 against Real Madrid in the Champions League (0-3). It’s their second longest unbeaten streak at home in European competition after their 40-match run between September 1974 and December 1991.
  • bayern were one of five teams to remain unbeaten in this season’s Champions League group stages, along with Ajax, Barcelona, Lyon and Porto. They have reached the Champions League semi-finals in seven of the last nine seasons.
  • bayern Munich are on a run of eight consecutive Champions League away matches without a defeat (W6 D2), with their last loss on the road coming in September 2017 versus Paris Saint-Germain (0-3). Only once have they enjoyed a longer unbeaten run away from home in the competition (10 games, between October 2012 and April 2014).
  • Eight teams had more shots than bayern in this season’s Champions League group stages but no side created more big chances than the bavarians (21).
  • bayern are the top scoring side from set-pieces in this season’s Champions League with eight goals, including five from corner situations (also a competition high).
  • Sadio Mané failed to convert more big chances than any other player in this season’s Champions League group stages (6, out of 7 obtained).
  •
  •
  •
  • However, last season he scored seven goals in as many knockout games in the competition.
  • Top scorer in the Champions League this season with eight goals, bayern  striker lewandowski will attempt to find the net in a fifth consecutive game, a feat he has never accomplished so far in a same season in the competition.
  • Four bayern  players will be making their 50th Champions League appearance if they feature against Liverpool: Thiago Alcantara, Mats Hummels, Javi Martinez and James Rodriguez.

@ the mancs lesser team... sunday

and THAT Steven Gerrard goal vs manU 01 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHA--iWF9lY

and the CURRENT "number 8" would do worse that watch this before he goes up against "them " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsUN4ZL9kxQ

the only decent manager ManU had was Matt Busby , Shanks , Busby & Stein were apart from every other manager before or since..

I was also based in Bayern for a while when 3 Liverpool players (including another wonder goal from a young Stevie ) scored in a win in Munchen for the national side and then the Lfc Team with new boy J.A.R scoring a cracker in a 3-2 win in the super cup within the same week ..happy days!  and a very quiet neighbourhood ha ha ha https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fyCk6yiWew

my challenge to all true REdS on and off the field...

NK

IMO if selected ..and I am already more focused on the game at OT ,,, the lad wearing the "number 8"  will have to start earning the right there, and if he comes close to the above mentioned performances from Stevie ..we have a chance of taking the vital 3 points..

GINI

Gini was & is overlooked by so many Lfc "fans" because they expected the "new boys" to reduce him to bench warmer, however Gini has been pivotal in the midfield and excellent in so many games the most consistent performer and alongside VVD a player of the season...

scoring from a more advanced position v Bmouth last saturday ...

Main MAN E?

I felt Sadio wasn't  yet at his best much of this season, but saturday he looked powerful.. if he can bring his best to the games ahead LIVERPOOL may be able to take the #19 despite the "experts" favouring citeh (again) .. how fickle they are ..at the end of december most of them were talking about the ManCiteh FRAUD Klub "crumbling" having dropped 10 points more than last season..

"the Firm"

"B...obby" is the "B....iz" ..when (as I call him) "the Firm" clicks then usually the FAB 3 and the team clicks too, his shift , as Rush back in the days also defends from the front, causing trouble for defenders who want to play out of their back line...his linking up and the "assist" last saturday can be sublime...

VVD

enough has been said and written.. and much praise (rightly) heaped upon arguably the LIVERPOOL player of the season ..called the best defender in the World... so i am going to find 2 things he could improve ... albeit i may be "petty" that i would... a) LOVE to see VVD coming through with the ball, he has excellent touch and pace to join the midfield especially against the sides who sit back, I am sure he is discplined enough in his own mind to know WHEN.. (I always felt that Danny Agger could have been "the greatest" had he come forward more often... remembering that Goal v wham!) and... b) considering his ability & physique. to SCORE more goals from free kicks & corners..

ROBBO

the scottish duracel bunny.  ... combining energy, skill, ability and mentality..is "THE LIVERPOOL TEAM player"  ... has all the things & ticks all the boxes (except goals ha ha ) that the ideal LIVERPOOL player should be... could have played in ANY of the great LIVERPOOL teams .. please protect and support him because he could be there for a long long time , hopefully..
Its not my aim to give a current assessment on all LIVERPOOL players.. AB wobbled also a bit recently , if he is at his best ...well #19? ..Trent's  absence combined with Joe's injury and Dejans (?) has meant Matip has been used more often, they will be tested, Milly & Hendo will feature in the midfield, and JK will surely go for "old school" in certain games..

although FAB has shown much, and also many fans OTT comment.. i still want any new player to have a season or so before I am convinced ..

and its so GOOD to see OX in training and hopefully in contention for a place sooner rather than later..

and of course there is Lalla, Shaq, Studge & Origi ..all capable of importand contribution so stop fan nies putting one or the other down???

and.. i do not need to remind anyone ..there is .....

______ probably ..... formation next week..

v Bayern (as VVD is suspended)

                AB
                      Matip   Fab
Trent                    Hendo                      Robbo
                       Gini     NK
                              Firm
                                           Mane
             Mo

at OT? ...

                              AB
                      Matip   VVD
Trent                    Fab                      Robbo
                       Gini     NK(or Milly?)
                              Firm
                                           Mane
             Mo

................JK copies my terminology "Organised chaos " (go back to my logs since 1995>?) /..
but I really feel that this is timed to "pep up Lijnders .now that Jelijko has been officially consigned to Lfc memory ) I dont feel that players or coaches should open up to media like this.. why assist rivals in ANY way , of how Lfc plan to play?... bad idea IMO! ) /fabinho-salah-and-organising-the-chaos-inside-liverpools

SHIRTS...

This pic ... shows how it SHOULD be... Lfc do not need shirt sponsors nor anyone having their name bigger than LIVERPOOL or our emblem ..
with over 30 million known fans worldwide it would make (also) sense to make "own label" shirts with a factory deal that could cut the costs in half for supporters AND still make 200% profit..

the other skyblue sh&te mancs... main problems here are ..

a) most fans do NOT understand or do not care about these ManCiteh FRAUD klub violations and.....
MORE IMPORTANT ..since 2014 ...(when they "bought the title" )
UEFA, FIFA, and most of the FA's officials are either inefficient or CORRUPT..
so who polices the police?

and this problem is not exclusive to Football! its true of the world of government ... either inept or corrupt or both..!

Liverpool 3 bmouth 0 .. almost instant reaction...
Really not much to add to a GOOD performance , bmouth came out of the blocks quickly & the REdS more than reacted... with Mane in good form, getting the first, my MotM just shading the vote , his role pivotal and scoring the important 2nd with a chip over their GK, NK and the 3rd goalscorer Mo looking sharp.. in the end comfortable (just strange that the contract with Solanke didnt prevent him playing against Lfc) Ibe tried but the Liverpool side defended well as a unit, Trent got on late, AB looked his self again, Robbo charging down the wing, and as suggested Mo was comign in off the right wing with more space, Matip was ok, although his tackles dont represent a 6ftooter, Firm had sone typical link up play and a lovely touch to set up the 3rd for Mo.. Milly looked "at home" at RWB and later in midfield , Origi & Studge got on late in the game.. now a few days pause before taking on bayern ...:)
