Pause & we should reflect ...
but first have a look at :
/2018/09/rednet-updated-6-pointer-v-citeh-takes?
its going to be a strange pause, again, almost 2 weeks , before the team goes to struggling huddesfield, whilst footy adopts the pathetic "nations league"
...The intense period that the Lfc squuuuaaad :) have "survived" is past, and it was amusing how so many "pundits" and fan nies talked about being "content" if the REdS entered this period level on points with last years champions,
in Game management ..
sure you can see it that way, but thats NOT how CHAMPIONS see it.. the point v citeh was probably from fair result... but IMO better management could have places the REdS TOP of both the Premiere & the Champions league groups..
I believe the REdS could have beaten citeh and got a point at Napoli
a) by resting key players in midweek
b) whilst playing the "virtual reserves" in napoli..
(see SCLOG )
c) however, its overall looking "ok" after such an intense schedule - the rivals had it easier! much easier!
"instant matchday report" .....

the best team...drew..:)
we at REDnET wanted a virtual reserve team at Napoli to save the energy of key players for this game, JK didnt agree,,
I have yet to see any of Peps selections play as DEFENSIVE as today, The REdS need a pause, and if any of the players TRULY want to win a title with the REdS , I would suggest they consider whether "nations league" is worth the risk?
Milly off early on may not have helped, as until then, despite citeh's ball possession , (which was mostly in their own penalty area :) .. ) LIVERPOOL started best , there were arguably the fewest chances and shots on target by either side in this premiere league title favourites game, than any previous game stats will show..
NK put in a shift but hAS YET TO SHOW THE EXPLOSION THAT was expected by so many of his fan club..
arguably a fair result, and the away team will point to pen claims and their missed pen (which IMO AB had covered had Mahrez been on target)
but I would claim that citehs players might have lost one of them to a red card with a different ref than atkinson..
I was a bit surprised by the line up considering how well Joe & VVD have played recently but all credit to Dejan, who made some EXCELLENT tackles, when the blue mancs broke away (although their chances mostly came when the home side made loose passes in midfield/attack "transition" ..?)
I want to see more from Mane... Mo went the closest but he was often alone against 3 or 4 defenders, dont forget this when fans talk about "loss of form" .. (Pep rates him highly!)
... "the Firm" for me, wasn't at his best , unfortunately Studge offered not much extra, given just 20 minutes to make an iimpact,,,for me , it needs around 30 minutes to give a player time to get into the game (yes I know what happened at chelski)
.. IMO.. Studge and Shaq should have been on together for "the Firm & Sadio" ,, but that is just how i see the game..
VVD , apart from giving away the pen was his usual self, AB had hardly a shot to save.. Robbo was left winger & LB ! and Hendo did a fair impersonation of Milly - fans have to leave him alone, although, I would have started NK..
Hendo was all over the park and made some decent passes but should have had a shot when with the ball on the edge of the pen area, he has it in his locker...remember?
Joe did a decent job on the right, considering its not his best position, and got in a couple of naughty crosses that caused problems... the team have to do better from the free kicks and corners VVD , IMO should win just about everything there...
and I still feel , over all the games played so far Gini is most consistent player of the season..
however MoTM ; Lovren..
I fancy the REdS to win in manchester..TWICE this season! :)

Carra, Craig & Graeme have a go... :) ....
i dont think there is much of a problem, the "problem" is sometimes ex Lfc players who played in trophy winning teams , over-analyse the game... citeh did what napoli did in mid week, they looked to stop the REdS... a big compliment, that 2 of arguably the best coaches in the world changed tactics to stop Lfc? angellotti & pep... with Lallana & Ox back, the squad will be good enough to see out the title, IF JK learns to us games like the one at Napoli to rest key players (for me Studge & Shaq could have started mid-week, at least( ,, look at the recent fixtures and that Lfc have already played 2 of their rivals away and last years champs at home.(playign psg in between all that too) . and are undefeated with 6 wins & 2 draws .. and competing in europe.... JK is well happy with situ, sure with better (perefct) management Lfc could be top in both leagues ,and maybe will regret going out of league cup...but its more than :ok; ..do not exaggerate ... the media do enough of that

when ..arguably 2 of the worlds most succesful coaches compliment Lfc teams by making special changes to tactics to stop the REdS ..then this LIVERPOOL is more than current "challengers" ..
this squad , with Ox and hopefully Lallana finally returningto form, capable of winning major trophies... sure IF management was "perfect" Lfc woudl be top of both premiere and champions leagues ... IMO the "quasi reserves" should have been played in napoli, with a resulting progress in the league cup AND perhaps a team fresh enough to beat the bluemancs sunday, anyway very little worthy of the OVER-ANALysis of some ex Lfc players, fannies & "experts" on mainSCREAM media... :)

" However, the top three are all on 20 points and separated by goal difference only.
It was billed as the biggest game of the season so far but it failed to live up to those expectations as, until the last 15 minutes, both sides appeared reluctant to commit to all-out attack for fear of what the consequences at the other end may be.
Liverpool v Man City Opta stats
Liverpool extended their home unbeaten run against Manchester City to 18 games in all competitions (W12 D6), with their last such defeat coming in May 2003 (1-2).
Pep Guardiola has won just one of his last eight managerial meetings with Jurgen Klopp in all competitions (D3 L4), and is winless in the most recent four (D1 L3).
Liverpool’s return of 20 points is their joint-most after eight games of a Premier League campaign, having also done so in 1996-97 and 2008-09.
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 14 home games against ‘top six’ opposition in the Premier League, winning six and drawing eight of these fixtures.
With Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City all yet to suffer a league defeat this term, this is just the second time in Premier League history that as many as three teams have gone unbeaten in their opening eight games of a single season (also 2011-12, with Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United).
Manchester City had 51% possession at Anfield; their lowest in a Premier League game since Pep Guardiola took charge of the club.
Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in each of their last nine Premier League games at Anfield; their joint-longest run in the competition (also nine games in February 2007).
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has played 10 matches in all competitions at Anfield in his career (eight with Man City, two with Atletico Madrid), failing to score in any of those games.
Among players to have taken at least 10 penalties in the Premier League, only Juan Pablo Angel (50%, 5/10) has a lower success rate than Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez (58%, 7/12). "

no, but the demise of the EPL would not worry me, if it were true, it isnt, te americanization of english football and :loadsamoney: ruling the TV domination by SLy Tv etc ...and the high fees , spread around european footy, yesterday Newcastle , almost bottom lost to the mancs 3-2 , i think they have lost by one goal only to 3 of the top sides already,, its competitive, sometimes... Naploi were not "brave" they were set up to "stifle" in a hom game , whcih did not please many of their fans! angelotti outsmarted Jk, who IMO should have played a virtual reserve team, and saved the "first 11" for today... used be that people wrote abou the game, now it seems TAW etc just want to make a "headline" same as the mainSCREAM media? https://www.theanfieldwrap.com/2018/10/liverpool-manchester-city-competitive-premier-league/
