This must be the 1000th article I have written since 1995 about ...LIVERPOOL related subjects, via REdNET and other logs, blogs & SCLOGs..

I am 23 years old..... and lucky...

but thats only if you accept, (and why should you?),  that I was "re-born" after a coma 23 years ago.. 

 Kiev was my last business trip before i "died"  in an ambulance from belgian "de Panne" (means breakdown) ... to Veurne (hospital AZ Sint-Augustinus Veurne)  ICU (i see you too...) ;)  



 I had invested 7 years of my life and resources into the "gemNet" venture ; to connect 300 + business partners in 45 countries with over 500 online services via our own multi-media laptop tech using the former soviet satellite system to connect half a billion users ..

 

I decided to "quit" when the doc of the ICU found me waking up in shock, after a week in post meningitis coma, and told me something like " we didnt expect you to wake up"  readers of this log will know that I "quit" the systema and became its MAJOR adversary... since then

So the current (season 17/18) Liverpool team gets to the final of the worlds most important club competition...  and shouldnt we all be happy and excited... and YES IAM looking forward to the final against favourites RMad-rid, not only because this team , at its best can beat anyone,  and YET...

11 years after Athens and all the complaints made about ticket allocation, travel etc and all the "history" of our struggles against a biased UEFA, one of the top 10 richest football clubs in the world (whose boardroom is backed by a bunch of dollar billionaires) cannot guarantee that the supporters who did so much to MAKE this club a global ICON, with support, banners & songs (and much more) cannot be sure of getting there,

Allocated a meagre 16,ooo tickets, which does nothing to match a packed stadium of 50,000 plus every home game, the official Lfc travel agents (thomas CROOK) can only guarantee 600 places for a round trip , which will cost each ticket holder around a thousand euros (or more)... 

Its as if the boardroom directors think fans income matches the transfer fees paid these days???

 

Loyal supporters deserve better

As I write this with only a week to go, having offered ideas for supporters to find alternative travel routes, via other european airports to Kiev, or via Lviv, or if time permits train/bus connections.. via Poland and other eastern european links.. I ask the TRUE REd SUPPORTERS... havent you had enough of this..

One of the major reasons so much crap opinion , fake news and rumour is on social media and especially knee-jerking reactions is the popularity of video games, social media blah blah, the reduction of youth and "grass routes football"  its so obvious that so many "fan nies"  have never played the game at any reasonable level....

1,5 billion euros... emplying professional managers, sponsors were not needed , a further 50 miilion per annum comes from selling "Liverbird "we are the club" brand products & services sharing that income with the residents of Liverpool who had sanctioned part of the 3 billion from "08" funds to make Anfield re-development part of its heritage programme, (as a charity) donations back to the foundation are tax deducible...

Investments by way of interest free loans and share purchase comes also from celebrity fans, over 100 million euros per annum..

  In the last 10 seasons  by retaining star players such as Torres, Mascherano, Alonso, and more recently Sterling, Suarez and Coutinho means our status as european champions exceeded Real Madrid last season as Lfc won its 10th European Champions trophy, and the English league for the sixth time since 2007...

oh, and congrats to Pepe Reina, who will most likely leave the spanish national team after this years World Cup, as regular number 1 goalkeeper for Spain and, of course Liverpool (and broke the record for appearnces for Lfc as a GK)  

 

Rafa BenItez's  contract is extended until 2021, at which stage it is likely that Steven Gerrard shall move from assistant position into the "hot seat"... 



At the the AGM on 23rd May, it is reported by Strategic manager (CRS) that the club..
a) Have a top class squad of more than 20 players able to compete with anyone
b) is in a healthy financial state, membership growing worldwide via supporter network.
c) Extended "safe standing" area tickets on the re-furbished KOP are reduced to only 20e.
d) Mo Salah wins another award.
e) Liverpool charity foundation houses refugees.

RM have final experience and JK hasn't (yet) won a major title like this, however their 11 "galactico" egos are not (IMO) a "team"  and thats the advantage of this Liverpool squad,  at least as far as the "regular" 11 .. they battle and work for each other, even when "plan A" goes out of the window as it did in the 2nd half..

quite rightly the Fab 3 and recently Ox justifiably have been the focus of praise, but the article missed a vital point, for me the main man, and NOT a 20 something was/is James MIlner..Milly.. in perhaps his last season as a “first teamer” likely to be up against fresh blood next season, is really making the most of each game .. i thought he did a sound job at LB last season.. and a solid pen taker .. but this “kid” of 32 ? has been everywhere in these vital quater & semi final games… go on , enjoy your Ribenas! you deserve much more …

 oh, and a point for those who yearn for a star-studded midfield…and yes I still blame mis-management for Phil and Studge leaving the squad in january (both would have given some comfort in these latter stages )  .. to link up between defence and THE attack,, to hound, tackle and organise… that Wijnaldum has somehow equaled Ox in his game added to the efforts of Hendo & milly is more than commendable.. in these days of social network bias towards to :talent” up front.. the big IF… IF Lfc can be as compact as they were at Porto (0-5) and with a RED army making the Kiev stadium gfeel like home, this team can blow away the arrogance of ronaldo & the royal whites , get rid of Mad..!

...,   there are players out on Loan , such as Grujic & co who havent been given a real chance, Ben Woodburn was applauded as the new wonderkid until a few months ago,  Keita is coming anyway, one of the major problems of Lfc has been TOO MANY changes of players & staff in the last decade, they have a good spirit and you just need 2 or 3 TOP players to ease into the squad without losing what has been achieved..  too much knee jerking , inside and outside the club by fans & media,  one minute Lfc are the kings , next minute paupers , opinion needs calm balance and intelligence sadly lacking at Lfc in recent years..

having a limit of just 11 fit "regulars" is meaning the pressure is on those to do the job and stay fit for the remainder.. the bench , for me, underlines the january mis-management of letting Phil, and less so but perhaps unwisely Studge & Grujic go, especially as in November JK insisted it wouldnt happen that way... big deal Lfc get a record fee for Coutinho , but what price the chance of a champions league trophy number 6? or (as Lfc play at cheslki sunday, that they are so stretched they get caught for next seasons campaign..

IMO the chance of a major trophy for Supporters especially , is massive, never mind the glory hunters on & off the field that will want to climb on board if RM are vaquished on the 26th May.. Lfc owe Studge nothing, he was been renovated and repaired sufficient times by Lfc that his world cup aims, for me are secondary to his employers needs (as with Phil & Barca) ... i would have been more confident of seeing out , not only the quarter & semi final ties (impacting the last half hour) instead of a youthful Solanke, or workmanlike, but unconvincing Ings. i am not the only one who would rather see JK send on fresh quality to keep opposing defences stretched than a couple of defenders (although replacing Trent with Clyne wednesday night made more sense) ... Quality sides, chelski, citeh and roma and even relegation candidates have obviously taken the initiative thrown down when Lfc "defend the lead" in the closing 30/20/15 minutes...

................. ............Having said all that , the (almost) perfect compact game was at Porto 0-5 .. if the team can repeat that game v RM in Kiev I truly believe the result could suprise even the most seasoned supporter, (and pundit) so ...50,000 Reds with or without tickets in Kiev (by the way last time I was there vodka / champagne cost only 1 dollar per litre bottle...) despite the expense.. .. it could be a "home game atmosphere" that the "royal white" will hate... and pump adrenalin into Liverpools "ready" players...
